Professional Experience:

  • Mentor and advise in one-on-one appointments with students and alumni by creating unique individual plans and developing strategies in order to guide and assist them with academic, personal, and career development goals. This includes serving and advising Miami’s college of creative arts currently consists of over 1,430 students. This has been achieved by meeting with students individually and connecting them with appropriate university and career development resources in order to foster student success. Experience successfully assisting, mentoring and teaching a diverse population of students from different communities. This includes students who are considered first-generation, at-risk, special needs and neurodivergent.
  • Experience collecting data and applying it in strategic ways that pinpoint areas where specific populations of students need assistance. A project that included the use of data was a collaboration between the Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) and the DEI team for the College of Creative Arts (CCA). The data reflected that students faced transportation as an obstacle to obtaining internship opportunities in downtown Cincinnati. The CCES department collaborated with CCA’s DEI team to resolve this issue with the use of a shuttle bus system.
  • Highly detail-oriented individual who is able to work under pressure while meeting deadlines with an emphasis on quick decision making and multitasking. As liaison I connect the career center’s resources to students, faculty and staff across multiple university departments. This collaboration between our departments ensures student retention and academic growth in order to prepare students for a successful transition through each year of their collegiate journey.
  • Experience in collaborating with career advisors, employer relations and marketing team, department chairs, dean, staff, and faculty in the college of creative arts in order to plan events that connect students to internships, co-ops, and job opportunities. Providing multiple students with referrals for scholarships, internships, job applications, and graduate school. Consistently stress the importance of assisting students with finding sustainable success by achieving their goals during and after their college experience.
  • Served on multiple committees in higher education, including: Center for Career Exploration and Success Team, Technology Initiatives, Career Advising Team, Student Retention, Faculty, Administration Management Team, Student Scholarship Recipients, Student Thesis Review, Student Advisory Committee, Department ExCo Chairs and Leadership Collaboration. Experience in evaluating multiple student’s application materials and portfolios in individual meetings and on review committees at the collegiate level.
  • Develop and manage short-term and long-term department projects focusing on student engagement and success. A short-term project has included updating the department policies and resources available to students on the career center’s website. These resources include: updated application materials, university resources, and policies. A larger project I’ve curated includes collaborating with our marketing, admissions, and employers relations team to create a career services event called, “Architecture and Design Career and Internship Fair.” This event allows students the opportunity to network with their peers and local employers in order to obtain prospective career opportunities. Setting these goals for our educational community gave me the ability to gain excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Professional Skills:
